Sonu Nigam says he wishes he was from Pak

Having spent over two decades in the music industry, singer Sonu Nigam is unhappy over the current circumstances that are being unfavorable to Indian singers. The singer has always been vocal about different issues ranging from inside the industry or to that which concerns the nation. The ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho‘ singer who has crooned to some of the most famous Bollywood hits in the ’90s and 2000s is now gradually singing fewer songs. The singer has blamed his plight on the growing popularity of Pakistani singers in Bollywood.
Talking at a summit, Sonu said that sometimes he wishes he was from Pakistan so he would get more offers from India. Sonu Nigam, while comparing the differences in how Pakistani and Indian singers were treated, revealed that nowadays, singers have to pay to music companies to do the shows. The singer said if they don’t shell out money, they play songs by other singers and highlight the same.
However, Sonu also pointed out that the music companies don’t do the same with Pakistani singers. Instead, they only crack down on Indian singers. Sonu mentioned that singer Atif Aslam, who is a close friend of his, was never asked to pay to sing at shows, neither was popular singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. TimesofIndia
